Daigoji Godairikison Nin-no-e
Daigoji Godairikison Nin-no-e at Daigoji Temple, Fushimi-ku, Kyoto. A contest, in which young men and women show their strength by lifting mochi (rice cakes), weighing some 150 kg (for men) and 90 kg (for women), is held from noon for women, and from 1 p.m. for men, in front of Kaido Hall of the temple.
Access: The Tozai Subway Line to Daigo Station (No.1 Exit), and then walk 10 minutes.
