Demon-repelling rituals at Horyuji

Oni-oi-shiki
Oni-oi-shiki, rites of driving away devils take place at two major temples; Horyuji Temple in Ikaruga-cho, Ikoma-gun, Nara Prefecture, and Kofukuji Temple, Nara, Nara Prefecture. Both are listed as UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites. The rites including Buddhist sermon are conducted at Horyuji Temple from around 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and at Kofukuji Temple from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m..
Access: (1) Kofukuji Temple: The Kintetsu Nara Line to Kintetsu-Nara Station, and then walk five minutes or the JR Kansai Honsen Line to Nara Station and then take Shinai Bus to Kencho-mae Bus Stop.
(2) Horyuji Temple: The JR Kansai Honsen Line to Horyuji Station, and then walk 25 minutes, or five minutes by bus to Horyuji-mae Bus Stop.
